Why buy appliance breakdown cover?
Those Monday morning blues might take on an even darker shade if the washing machine breaks down when it’s full with the week’s wash; that important dinner party might go with an unexpected, and thoroughly unwelcome, bang if the cooker malfunctions; or it might be a thousand and one irritating hassles when some otherwise trusted domestic appliance gives up the ghost.
Domestic appliance breakdown cover
We understand just how frustrating – or worse – it is likely to be when any household appliance goes KAPUT.
That’s why we have come up with an insurance scheme that puts you in touch with our round the clock call centre when you need to report a breakdown. In response, we arrange for the speedy and prompt repair of the appliance concerned – in your own home, by a fully trained and qualified engineer.
In the majority of cases, the necessary repairs are likely to be made on the spot, or later if special replacement parts need to be ordered. If the appliance is damaged beyond repair, your domestic appliance breakdown cover provides for its replacement (up to certain limits dependant on the product’s age).
Cover is available for both new and second hand appliances (which are no more than eight years old) and we ask for no sales receipts in support of their purchase price. By including up to 10 appliances under the same appliance, attractive discounts may be earned and further savings made if you pay for the insurance by way of a single payment (12 months cover for the price of 10).
Once your breakdown cover is in place and one of the insured appliances goes KAPUT, a simple call to our 24/7 call centre prompts us to swing into action by arranging for its repair (or replacement) as soon as possible.
Through our contacts with a nationwide network of local service centres, we arrange for a qualified and CRB-checked engineer to come to your home and make the necessary repairs. The van he is driving carries all of the replacement parts likely to be required for the repair of the appliance in question, but if others are needed, they may need to be ordered and a return visit made.
The visit to your home is made by prior appointment at a time that is convenient for you and we provide an online tracking facility for you to follow the progress of your claim, a picture of the engineer scheduled to turn up and full details as to his ID. Confirmation of the appointment is typically made by text message.
In the unlikely event of the engineer being unable to repair your appliance, the breakdown cover provides for appropriate contribution towards its replacement.
What it costs
Once the relevant breakdown cover is in place and you need to call out an engineer to make the repairs, you may be pleased to know that there is no further cost for using the service. No call out charge is made, you pay nothing for replacement parts and labour, and there is not even an excess to pay on the claim you are making.
Why not buy appliance breakdown cover today?
In a press release we issued earlier this year KAPUT warned that as many as 70% of consumers failed to appreciate the way in which warranty insurance works and that the age group most likely to have this gap in their knowledge are 45 to 54 year olds.
